Another Paint Chip Idea

I just love paint chips! I love the variety of colors and the creative names.   I was walking by the paint department at Wal-Mart and the paint chips were calling my name. I stood there looking at them, thinking what else could I do with these things and instantly decided...BOOKMARKS!
I am doing a book challenge with my class for the year (see Book Whisperer post).  At the end of each month, the children count up their totals and we record on a class chart.  I thought the bookmark would give them an extra challenge for January.....seven books for the month.  We are reading some "Traditional Literature" and talked about books that would fit this genre.  The children were very excited to pick out a bookmark and get started.  I allow children to read any genre for their book challenge.

When the kids complete a book, they write the title on their bookmark and can get it punched.  I brought in a bag of my scrapbook mini-punches.  The paint splot punch is perfect!

  8. I love this idea! I will be using this! Where did you get your paint splot punch? I would like to use it when we read The Big Orange Splot, too.

  9. The punch is very old...sorry! I think it is made by EK. WE used to read The Orange Splot in our old reading program. It was on our MCAS(mass state test) last year. Love Mr. PLumbeam!
