We had a great week Blowing Bubbles! I gave the children a choice of bubble gum or blowing bubbles (too many kids in fourth grade have dental work). The children had to write a "steps in a process" piece. It was a nice break from our narrative essays. Here are my final projects.
The kids had a Blast!!! Literally.

My biggest dilemma was what to use for the bubbles. We are not allowed to have balloons due to the latex. I walked around Wal-Mart and looked at Styrofoam balls, ping pong balls, pom poms, etc. It was going to be too expensive to buy any of those items. I ended up spotting this bag of 100 balls for $10.00. They are made to go in the "Ball Pens." They worked perfect! I used a glue gun to attach to their published projects. I have enough for several years...LOL!
Here are a few of my final projects. BTW...I am from Red Sox Nation and there always has to be one Yankee lover! (see below)

I love this idea for teaching procedures. My students would flip, because I never let them chew gum. I just might teach this for that reason alone. :)

I'm stealing this idea, just FYI! :) And good call on bubble gum being difficult for students with dental work. I honestly never would have thought about that.

ReplyDelete-love this idea. I was looking for something that would be highly motivating for students to write about and I think I found it. Thanks so much for sharing.
