Check out my color poetry post from last year! I read some trade books and we talked about how colors represent emotions and feelings. I read the books and used the chart.
The next thing that the kids did was pick a paint chip.
They used the following sheet to brainstorm their ideas.
I used a sheet from Writing Fix.
The kids wrote similes using their senses.
They picked three similes that fit their metaphor.
(I did conference with them, although the mistakes reappeared!)

I really like this unique idea, I believe it would be a fantastic activity to do with the children. I like the examples you have used on your blog too - it looks like it made a very productive lesson!

ReplyDeleteIt has been a few years...I'm teaching just math and science. I know I used My Many Colored Days by Dr Seuss and Hailstones and Halibut Bones. Good luck!
