Show and Tell Tuesday

I am on spring break this week and loving that our New England weather is finally starting to feel like spring!  I have been busy organizing the house and getting some things done on the computer.

This is the first time I am linking up with Forever in Fifth Grade's linky party called "Show and Tell Tuesday."  Here are four things that I would love to show and tell about it.
This year I became one of the dance coaches for our Middle School Dance Club, for grades 5-8.  We had our show last Wednesday.  The girls danced to songs that related to colors.  The masks were for Michael Jackson's "Black and White."  I was so proud of the girls!
My husband made me a Giant Jenga game last week for my classroom.  I need to paint the ends of the blocks so I can create groups of questions for math practice.  The teacher under my classroom is not going to be happy...LOL!
Last Thursday was my 26th wedding anniversary.  I had been waking up way before the alarm and found this waiting for me at 4:30am.  I felt bad because I was not ready and was planning to get a card on the way home from school.  I wrote a love note on a sticky!  Oh well.
I dressed up as a pirate to introduce my new math unit.  I taught coordinate graphing lesson with a giant graph that I made from a tarp.  I am working on a TPT to go with the lesson but it is still in the works.  My kids loved collecting their bags of treasure and counting their loot.  Arghhhh!!!
Those are my picks for show and tell.
Leave a comment below and hop on over to Forever in Fifth Grade to join in the fun.

Meet the Blogger

Greetings!  My name is Kelly and I have been teaching for the past 22 years.  I have spent 19 years in third grade and 3 years in fourth.  I will be starting in a new fifth grade position this fall.  Due to the numbers, my school was cutting classes and I volunteered to make the big move from elementary to middle.  I will be teaching math and science.  I am very excited about the change for many reasons, only two sets of standards, more content, earlier schedule, regular letter grade report card, block scheduling, team teaching,  just to name a few of them!

My dream as a little girl was to grow up and become a teacher.  I am happy that dream came true.  I love my job and teaching.  We may have challenging students and days, but every day is a fresh start. I feel that we need to be the positive influence in our students' lives.  I find that teachers need to find new ways to keep motivated.  Blogging has been one of the best ways for me.  It makes me reflect on my teaching.  I am happy that after 23 years I still like my job.
I have two daughters, Hannah (22) and Emma(19).  I am proud of both my girls.  My oldest will be teaching music this fall and the youngest is a sophomore in college.  My husband Gregg and I have been married for 24 years….we booked our Anniversary cruise for spring school vacation.  My family is very supportive of me and my job.
In my spare time I enjoy keeping healthy and fit, crafting, cooking, shopping, cruising, and planning.

Made It Monday Monthly- Writer's Eyes

Here is my Made It Monday Monthly Project that was inspired by many other great blogs.  (see below)  I want to hang this above my writing center.  That should be a challenge!

I used 2 pizza pans from the Dollar Tree, traced circles on poster board and 2 plastic plates.  I used a piece of foam board that I cut and spray painted silver to make the nose piece.  I glue gunned the nose piece on to the pizza pans.

This is the one I used:

Here are others:

The Honey Bunch ($2.00)

Printable (freebie)

I spent the week-end reorganizing my Plan Book.  I printed off the signs on card stock and laminated them.  Each section has a pocket with tabs.  You can never be too organized!
They are from The Resource Room.   She has many colors and styles...all for free!  The calendar was from another person.  I already had it.
